It was time to restock on Bourbon Barrel shavings yesterday (lamp filler). Which meant taking an authentic barrel stave and drilling it with a Forstner bit repeatedly until there was nothing left. Put a couple of large plastic bins under the drill press and a use bit of elbow grease… and eventually you have enough shavings for six or so lamps. I’m sure this is an unusual use for staves and the Forstner bit, but hey, it works. 🙂

Neat! Love that the whisky bottles are filled with barrel shavings 🙂

Oops! I just realized: 1) I think I spelled whiskey wrong and 2) it’s bourbon! 😉

You can actually spell it either way. It makes for fun debate. Kinda like how you pronounce ‘gif’ 😉

Kevin – You need to get a lathe – you can make shavings MUCH faster than with a Forstner bit. (and you get bowls to boot!)
