Vanity Build for the Powder Room
June 13 – 20, 2024
June 4, 2024 – ONGOING
Kevin is building a double-sink vanity that will go into the powder room on the main floor.
Material: Raw Walnut that’s being finish-cut and prepared for the build.
Kevin’s doing all the work with input from more experienced friends.
Photo album is HERE.

Camera Shelf Installation and Packing
July 11 – August 10, 2021
Inheriting hundreds of antique film cameras requires shelves respectful of their importance.
The first photo shows Chuckles’ shelves in Kentucky. Move-In photos show the old, ugly original shelves.
Five IKEA ‘Billy’ Bookshelves were installed on top of a platform to add a bit of height and remove any future water concern.
The MDF shelves were replaced with glass ones (as well as glass doors).
Molding was installed all the way around to give the shelves a built-in look.
Clear acrylic tags were made on the Glowforge to stablize cameras and serve as manufacturer labels.
Spot lights were refreshed with full-spectrum LEDs.
You can view the photos in progress HERE.

Salon Table
The rings on the side hold hair dryers, curling irons, etc.
You can view the photos in progress HERE.

Puzzle Board
This is the back-side of the Puzzle board I made for Carolyn. The puzzle piece supports the middle of the board when the puzzle is assembled on the other side.
More photos of the board are HERE.

Bathroom Vanity
My first piece of furniture from scratch (rough hardwood, etc.)… A new vanity for the basement bathroom.
Complete with double doors and a dovetailed drawer. Alder wood with a granite top.
See the full building history HERE.

Bourbon Barrel Liquor Cabinet
I converted the used Heaven Hill bourbon barrel that Carolyn got me for an anniversary present to my primary liquor cabinet (red ribbon reflects that it was a gift). And oh that smell when I first cut into it! An angel’s share for sure!
Complete with an interior lazy susan made from two barrel heads (tops, bottoms), and glass on the top / bottom. I’ve had to add bolts to the bands over time since the staves are continuing to dry out in the Colorado air.
In-progress photos are HERE.

Western-Europe Pin Map
What do you do when you have a great laminated Michelin Map 5705, fortuitous travel history, and a large sheet of styrofoam from an old hot tub cover? Make a map where you can drop pins for places traveled, of course!
I used French cleats to secure it to the wall, and I used biscuits on the miter cuts (side pieces; forgot to take pictures of those, but similar to the Salon table). I’m still cleaning styrofoam bits from my table saw, however!
Nearly complete photos are HERE.
