I drilled the LAWS, and the LAWS won!

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. After 9 well-drilled lamp-cord holes I managed to crack a LAWs bottle. Why? Different type of drill-bit? Maybe. Too much plastic wrap and tape causing the bottle to get hot? Probably not. Drilling too close to the bottom of the bottle? Likely.

There’s nothing worse than a high-pitched ‘ping’ when you’re almost done… After the bit finally got through the bottle I carefully removed the tape and wrap hoping for the best. At first it looked fine, but then I noticed the hairline crack on either side. Odd, the crack is only on the inner surface, but that’s still enough reason to retire the bottle as a lamp candidate.

Learn by doing. The next 3 went fine, and I added 3 more lamps to the ‘finished‘ page. Still, it was a bummer, and I felt terrible (especially since I need bottles! hint, hint). So I took a deep breath and prepared 9 corks for eventually assembly (more on that later). Onwards and Upwards?
