Why So Many Shoes?

I’m sure that’s what they think at “The Container Store“. But alas, they’re not for shoes….

Many of you commented on my workshop organization. Thanks! But like everything else, that was only possible through trial and error.

What works for me? Clear polypropylene shoe boxes: You can see through them, they stack well, and they’re the right size for almost everything. I order them by the case (20) when needed.

I’m using them on my hardware shelves (nuts, bolts, nails) and for my primary storage (accessories, supplies, parts, etc.). And yes, I’m also using them to store lamp parts (photos below for all). I have traditional parts trays, but these do better for larger items (or when there is a big quantity).

We’re also using them in the home-office, the garage, bathroom, etc. Did you know I tend to be organized? No? Really?

  1. Funny… I must have 5 or 6 of them. As u say, perfect size etc. When David was younger I kept arts and crafts, scissors, glue etc in them..I use for pliers, screw drivers etc……. Great minds run in the same channel
